PRESIDENT LEAVES FOR MAKASSAR TO OPEN NU CONGRESS
Jakarta, March 23 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono left Jakarta for Makassar, South Sulawesi, to open the 32nd conference of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muslim organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Boarding presidential special aircraft Boeing 737-800, the president and an entourage left Halim Perdanakusuma military airbase here at 7.45 on Tuesday morning for a one-day working visit to Makassar to open the NU congress.
President Yudhoyono's entourage included Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa, State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Andi Malarangeng, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa, Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, Maritime and Fisheries Affairs Minister Fadel Muhammad, and Presidential Advisory Board member Jimly Asshiddiqie.
Upon arrival at Makassar's Hasanuddin airport, the president is scheduled to meet with NU ulemas including those from abroad who are present in the South Sulawesi provincial city for the congress.
Then on 1 pm the head of state will open the five-day NU congress at Celebes Convention Center in Pantai Losari resort.
After opening the conference, the head of state will attend a function at Celebes Convention Center yard to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between South Sulawesi provincial administration and the Transportation Ministry on the construction of the Makassar-Parepare railway track.
