FIFTY-MEMBER BUSINESS DELEGATION FROM INDIA VISITS MSIA



KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 (Bernama) -- A 50-member business delegation from
India, representing the chemical industry, met their Malaysian counterparts
today at a Buyer and Seller Meet (BSM) session.

During the session, the Indian delegation also held intensive discussions
with their Malaysian counterparts, with a view to establishing an initial tie-up
and also explore possibilities for joint ventures between companies of both
nations.

Besides that, the session also looked into appointing local representatives
for their products, particularly chemicals, agrochemicals, dye and dye
intermediates, flavours and grangrances.

The BSM was organised by the Indian Basic Chemicals Pharmaceuticals and
Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL) with the support of the Indian
High Commission in Malaysia.

The High Commission in a statement said the Chemical Industries Council of
Malaysia, Malaysian Association of Traditional Indian Medicine, senior
representatives from the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce,
the Malay Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, participated
in the BSM.

India's exports of chemical and chemical-based products to Malaysia
increased three-fold between 2003 to 2008.

Significantly, India's exports of chemicals and chemical products registered
a 25 per cent increase in 2009 compared to 2008.
