YEMENI-INDIAN MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE HOLDS 7TH ROUND



SANA'A, March 23 (Saba)- The works of the 7th round of the Yemeni-Indian Ministerial Committee were launched on Tuesday co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Hisham Sharaf and the Indian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Latha Reddy.

The two officials affirmed the importance of holding such periodical meetings as they reinforce joint cooperation relations between Yemen and India, noting the level of the current cooperation between the two friend countries.

The committee discussed a number of issues inserted in its agenda to promote bilateral cooperation in areas of higher education and scientific research and supporting technical components at the National Museum, in addition to raising the number of scholarships presented to Yemen by India up to 50 per annum to be increased by 20 scholarships.

The meeting also dealt with the draft agreement of commercial cooperation between the two countries through increasing a greater flow of commerce and investment as well as encouraging the exchange of trade delegations and holding trade fairs.

They talked about cooperation in the fields of judiciary, security, health, oil, and gas.

The Indian side in the meeting expressed willingness to invest in Yemen in sectors of telecommunications, fertilizers and refineries.

They approved the formation of joint technical committees to discuss issues related to security cooperation between Yemen and India to hold meetings in both countries' capitals alternately.
