BUS PLUNGES INTO RAVINE, INJURING SEVEN PEOPLE
Mamuju, W Sulawesi, March 25 (ANTARA) - A bus plunged into a ravine in Mamuju, capital of West Sulawesi province, on Thursday, injuring seven of its 20 passengers.
The bus overturned after it plunged into the ravine on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta here at 07.00 a.m., spokesman for Mamuju police resort Adjunct Chief Commissioner Muhabar said.
The bus met the accident on its way from Sinjai district, South Sulawesi province, to Korossa subdistrict, some 150 km from Mamuju, he said.
He said five of the injured passengers, identified as Asna (35), Ummy (9), Syamsuri (24), Arman (35) and Becce (30) had been rushed to a nearby hospital for intensive treatment.
Three of the passengers sustained serious injuries.
The police are detaining the bus's driver for questioning.
