India, Finland ink economic cooperation pact

Helsinki, Mar 26 (PTI) India and Finland on Friday signed
a pact aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and removing hurdles
in the economic ties by setting up a joint commission and
expert groups.
Under the Agreement on Economic Cooperation signed by the
Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and Finnish
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Vayrnen here,
a joint commission comprising experts would be set up.
"The new agreement will raise the level of economic and
trade cooperation between the two countries to a new and
higher level," Sharma who is leading a FICCI delegation said.
The two sides would strengthen their bilateral engagement
through exchanges of information. India and
Finland would also explore joint business possibilities in
third countries.
Three joint working groups would explore opportunities
and identify hurdles in areas of innovation, clean technology,
waste management, skill development and training.
Sharma said that areas of infrastructure, clean energy,
bio-pharmaceuticals, medical electronics, health and skill
development offer enormous potential.
"Indian MSME sector and Finnish small industries should
use each other's strengths to make India a manufacturing hub
for tech-rich industries," he said.
FICCI Presdient Rajan Bharti Mittal is part of the
delegation, which concluded its two-day visit here. PTI DP
