US-financed rehabilitation centre opens in Da Nang

Da Nang (VNA) - The Binh Dan General Hospital in central Da Nang city put into operation a physio therapy and rehabilitation centre in late June.

The centre is funded with a 400,000 USD grant from the US Agency for
International Development (USAID) and is the first of its kind to receive financial support from the US .

USAID will provide the establishment with more aid to help transfer
technology and state-of-art equipment in service of disable patients.

Hospital director Vu Thi Tu Hang said the centre is aimed at providing
charity services by exempting or reducing fees for disabled and poor
patients. Its profits will be reserved for charity activities, she added.

USAID Representative Roger Carlson pledged to continue supporting the
disabled in the central and Central Highlands regions by providing essential
services and helping them integrate into the community.

The centre, capable of treating 50-70 patients a day, is expected to receive
its first beneficiaries on July 21.-End
