UN AFFIRMS SUPPORT TO UNIFIED YEMEN

SURT, March 27 (Saba) – The United Nations' Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon affirmed on Saturday the UN support to unified Yemen and to stand by Yemen in the development and humanitarian fields.

This came during the meeting gathered President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Ban Ki-moon on the sideline of the 22th Arab summit, currently held in the Libyan city of Surt.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation between Yemen and the UN and horizons of boosting it.

President Saleh emphasized the importance of pushing the international organizations to assist Yemen in the development areas and the UN organizations to work in the humanitarian areas, particularly with regard to presenting care for the refugees, who flock to Yemen from the African countries.

He praised the UN's role and efforts in the field of humanitarian relief for the displaced people due to the insurgence war in the province of Saada, northern Yemen.
