MONGOLIA PREPARES SPRING SOWING



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. Mongolia will plant crops on 282.2 thou hectares of land this spring, of which, 272.7 thou hectares of land will be used for sowing wheat. It plans to sow potatoes on 13.2 thou hectares of land and vegetables on 7.1 thou hectares of area, an official of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry said.
It is estimated that Mongolia is expected to harvest 407.1 thou tons of crops this year, and 158.5 thou tons of potatoes and 93.3 thou tons of vegetables. If Mongolia could achieve this goal, the country can provide its domestic needs of flour and potatoes.
According to the ministry, 44.6 thou tons of wheat seeds are expected to be used this year, of which 41.8 thou tons of seeds are now ready for plantation. Another 2.8 thou tons of seeds will be imported from Kazakhstan and Russia.
