IFAD to raise investments in Yemen

SANA'A, March 31 (Saba) - International Fund for
Agricultural Development (IFAD) said on Wednesday that it would increase the
allocations
of its investment projects in Yemen.
During his meeting with Finance Minister Numan al-Suhaibi, IFAD regional director
Nadim Khori said that the fund in partnership with donors is to establish joint
investment
projects to support the development in Yemen.
Al-Suhaibi applauded the IFAD intuitive to shift its development assistance to
Yemen from loans to grants since the beginning of 2009, affirming the government's
keenness
to progress the current and future with IFAD, particularly in realizing the needs of
the rural areas in Yemen.
The minister briefed the IFAD official on the social and economic challenges Yemen
faces, particularly the population rate growth and the impacts of the climate
changes
on the rural areas that depends basically on agriculture.
