Yemen seeks Japanese support for establishing local TV channel

(Saba) - Yemen and Japan discussed here on Thursday the possible Japanese support
for establishing
and outfitting a local TV channel in Hadramout governorate.
The Director General of the Yemen General Corporation for Radio and TV Abdullah
al-Zalab held talks with the Japanese ambassador to Yemen Mitsunori Namba on the
cooperation
relations between the corporation and the Japanese counterparts in technical and
program exchange fields.
Enhancing the program exchange, the Japanese ambassador gifted the corporation the
famous Japanese series "Oshin" to be aired on the Yemeni TV satellite channels.
"Oshin" is a very well-known Japanese series, which was broadcast for a year from
April 1983.
It tells the story of a poor little girl who would someday become the owner of a
big supermarket chain in Japan. The series has been aired in 59 countries and
regions.
