PAKISTANI OFFICIAL HAILS YEMENI EFFORTS IN COMBATING PIRACY



SANA'A, April 01 (Saba) - A Pakistani senior military official has
commended the efforts of the Yemeni marines and coastguard forces in
combating piracy in the region.

During his meeting with Aden governor Adnan al-Jeffri, the commander
of the Pakistani marine formation Brigadier Mukhtar Khan visiting
Yemen currently said that there are many opportunities to reinforce
cooperation between marine forces and coastguard forces in the two
countries, particularly in training and expertise exchange.

Khan said that the existence of the Pakistani marine units in the
Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean is a part of the international
coalition there to combat piracy in the region.

During the meeting attending by Pakistani ambassador to Yemen Syed
Khawaja, Aden governor Adnan al-Jeffri said that the visit aims to
enhance the security and military cooperation between Yemen and
Pakistan.

Al-Jeffri called on the Pakistani private sector to invest in Aden
governorate.

In return, Khawaja affirmed the Pakistani government's keenness to
prompt the Pakistani companies to invest in Aden that would widen
the commercial cooperation between Yemen and Pakistan.

He voiced his country's desire to strengthen cooperation in
educational area, saying that the Pakistani University is to be
inaugurated in Sana'a in April.

Worth to mention is that the Pakistani formation arrived in Aden on
Tuesday and consists of a hydrographic survey and Research vessel
"Behr Paima", Frigates "Tariq" and the submarine "Hashmat".
