YEMEN SEEKS JAPANESE SUPPORT FOR ESTABLISHING LOCAL TV CHANNEL

SANA'A, April 01 (Saba) - Yemen and Japan discussed here on Thursday
the possible Japanese support for establishing and outfitting a
local TV channel in Hadramout governorate.

The Director General of the Yemen General Corporation for Radio and
TV Abdullah al-Zalab held talks with the Japanese ambassador to
Yemen Mitsunori Namba on the cooperation relations between the
corporation and the Japanese counterparts in technical and program
exchange fields.

Enhancing the program exchange, the Japanese ambassador gifted the
corporation the famous Japanese series "Oshin" to be aired on the
Yemeni TV satellite channels.

"Oshin" is a very well-known Japanese series, which was broadcast
for a year from April 1983.

It tells the story of a poor little girl who would someday become
the owner of a big supermarket chain in Japan. The series has been
aired in 59 countries and regions.
