BRUNEI INVITES MALAYSIA`S BANK RAKYAT TO OPEN BRANCH
KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Bank Rakyat has been invited
to open a branch in Brunei.
Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri
Yaakob said the offer to the cooperative bank was made by a government
representive during his last visit to Brunei.
"They were impressed with Bank Rakyat's success," he told reporters after
opening Bank Rakyat's annual general meeting at Putra World Trade Centre here
Saturday.
"To realise this, Bank Rakyat needs to study the procedure and obtain Bank
Negara's approvals because opening a branch overseas is not easy," he said.
Ismail also said Bank Rakyat planned to open six new branches in the country
this year.
