TOURISM MINISTRY TO PROVIDE HOLISTIC SERVICES TO MICE EVENT ORGANISERS
KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- The Tourism Ministry through its
Meetings,Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) segment will constantly
facilitate and provide holistic services to organisers intending to participate
in MICE events locally.
Its minister Dr Ng Yen Yen said Malaysia was fast emerging as a choice
destination for international conventions and exhibitions, and its growing
appeal to convention and exhibitions organisers, is not surprising in view of
the country's easy accessibility from most parts of the world.
"Malaysia's modern infrastructure includes a wide range of well-equipped
facilities, accommodation and settings, to cater to all types of meeting
requirements," she told reporters after launching the 3rd Malaysia Furniture and
Furnishings Fair here Saturday.
The MF3 fair, organised by the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Furniture
Entrepreneur Association, will be held from July 22 to 25 at the Kuala Lumpur
Convention Center (KLCC) here.
"The facilities offered in MICE have a proven track record in hosting
numerous major international events, therefore, Tourism Malaysia's MICE division
is committed to develop a credible infrastructure for industry players within
the MICE sector," said Ng.
She said the forging of synergistic relationship with industry players has
fortified the Ministry of Tourism's role as a catalyst in developing Malaysia's
growing reputation as one of the top tourist spots in the world.
On the MF3, Ng said the fair promises a ready market for furniture
exhibition and sales and a celebration for the country's best in furniture
industry.
"The Tourism Ministry sees such events as an opportunity and avenue for
local furniture manufacturers to participate in large scale exhibitions. We also
believe the experience will help SME industries to boost creativity and improve
product quality to become major players in the industry worldwide with a
globally recognized brand," she said.
"Through exposure from events like the Furniture and Furnishing Fair, our
furniture exporters can explore new global markets," she said.
Meanwhile on tourism, she said Malaysia has become the choice of
destinations among foreign tourists and visitors due to its easy accessibility
while the country has also a proven track record in hosting numerous major
international events.
