YEMEN TO TAKE PART IN MEETING OF AFESD GOVERNORS

SANA'A, April 05 (Saba) - Yemen is to take part in the annual
meeting of the governors of Arab Fund for Economic and Social
Development (AFESD) and the Arab financial institutions to be kicked
off on Wednesday in Khartoum, Sudan.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim
al-Arhabi headed on Monday for the Sudanese capital to represent
Yemen in the meeting, which will focus on issues relating to
strengthening the cooperation between the member states.

The meeting will also review ways to activate the fund to meet the
Arab developing countries' needs and to assist them to face the
global challenges and changes caused by the international financial
crisis.

Minister al-Arhabi is expected to hold talks with a number of AFESD
officials over the cooperation horizons between Yemen and the fund
in addition to the fund's aid to the development projects in Yemen.

It is worth to mention that the AFESD is on the top of the list of
the development donor organizations supporting Yemen with about $
700 million.
