Draft decree on names, locations of Yemen islands approved

SANA'A, April 06 (Saba)- The Cabinet approved on Tuesday a draft of republican decree on the names and locations of the Yemeni islands, rocks and ridges submitted by Minister of Legal Affairs and
Chairman of the Technical Office of Borders.

In this regard, the cabinet directed to complete the necessary procedures for
issuing the decree.
The decree defines these names through two groups.The first group included the
islands, rocks and ridges located in the Red Sea, including Buklan – Ghorab islands
group
(44 islands and rocks and one ridge),Kmaran – Tickfash group (28 islands ,4 rocks
and 5 ridges), Ras-Kathib - Khorshih group (5 islands ,one rock and 4 ridges), Jabal
al-Tair
– al-Zubair group (13 islands and one ridge) ,Hanish – Zuqar group (29 islands and
two ridges), and Mioon group (one island, one rock and 4 ridges).
While the second group comprised the islands, rocks and ridges located in the Aden
Gulf and the Arab Sea, including Aden – Ras Omran group (20 islands, 3 rocks and 4
ridges)
and Bir Ali group (7 islands ,12 rocks and one ridge) as well as the Socotra
archipelago which consists of 6 islands and 7 rocks.
