President inaugurates 163 developmental projects

MUKALLA, April 06 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh inaugurated and laid on Tuesday the foundation stone for about 163
service and development projects at Hadramout province worth about YR 32 billion.

Saleh inaugurated 103 projects including 12 road projects, 9 in public work area, 6
in electricity, 3 in youth and sports and 4 projects related to Mukalla airport.
He also inaugurated 17 projects in field of public health and population, 3 in
technical and vocational education, 2 in fishery field, 2 rural electricity
projects, 6 rural
water, 26 educational projects and 13 in telecommunication field.
The President laid foundation stone for 62 projects in fields of roads, public
works, electricity, youth and sports, public health and population, fishery, rural
electricity
and water, education and telecommunication.
He paid a visit to the Hadramout electricity station project, which is one of the
private sectors' projects and is under implementation scheduled to start work in
the coming
May.
The total cost of the station project is about $ 120 million that will generate in
the first phase 75 MW to be increased to 100 MW.
The president paid another visit to Mukalla Iron and Steel factory, where the
construction is currently going on with a total cost of $ 195 million.
The factory will start its production in September 2010 with 500,000 tons annually
and will create job opportunities for nearly 1500 workers.
Saleh hailed the investment in such productive projects, which contribute in
creating many job opportunities and serving the national economy, affirming that
the government
will encourage the implementation of these industrial projects.
He renewed his welcome for all various investments in Yemen, noting Yemen has
several investment opportunities, which aim to achieve the common interests.
