SECOND FINANCE MINISTER TO LEAD MSIAN DELEGATION TO 14TH ASEAN FINANCE MINISTERS' MEETING

KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 (Bernama) -- Second Finance Minister Ahmad
Husni Hanadzlah will lead the Malaysian delegation to the 14th Asean
Finance Ministers' meeting in Nha Trang, Vietnam on Thursday.

At the meeting, Husni will update his Asean colleagues, on measures
undertaken to mitigate the effects of the global economic and financial crisis
on the Malaysian economy and foster growth.

A statement released by the Information Department here said, Husni would
also brief his counterparts on the recently announced New Economic Model (NEM)
to attain high-income status by 2020.

"He will also have bilateral discussions on matters of mutual interest with
his counterparts from Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand," the statement added.

During the one-day meeting, the Asean Finance Ministers would be briefed by
the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and Asian Development Bank
(ADB) officials on the risks, policy challenges and prospects for the Asean
region against the backdrop of regional/global economic and financial
developments.

The meeting will also focus on various ongoing initiatives, including the
the Malaysian-led effort to formulate an Asian Infrastructure Financing
Mechanism and the Asean Finance Ministers Investor Seminar in Kuala Lumpur this
November.
