Pakistan committed to close, broad based relationship with United States

Rawalpindi, July 5 PPI: President Pervez Musharraf Friday underlined Pakistan's commitment to close and broad-based relationship with United States.

He also reiterated the country's firm resolve to fighting terrorism and extremism.
In this regard, he stressed importance of comprehensive, multi pronged counter
terrorism strategy.

He was talking to visiting U.S. Congressional delegation led by Congressman Gene
Green and discussed bilateral relations, economic and counter-terrorism cooperation,
an official statement said.

Musharraf lauded Congressional support for Pakistan's counter-terrorism initiatives,
such as establishment of Reconstruction Opportunity Zones Federal Administered
Tribal Areas Development Plan and Frontier Constabulary capacity building. He called
for greater market access for Pakistani products in U.S.

The delegation members conveyed their support for a strong and broader relationship
with Pakistan. They appreciated Pakistan's commitment to fighting terrorism,
extremism and reaffirmed their support for Pakistan's social development goals.
