RIIA OFFICIAL: YEMEN 'COHESIVE' AND SHOULD NOT BE FAILED STATE
SANA'A, April 07 (Saba) – Yemen should not be a failed state as it has been pictured by the media, the representative of the London-based Royal Institute of International Affairs RIIA in the country has said.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Jenny Hill said that Yemen is a cohesive country and the standards of a failed state don’t match it.
The media has misinterpreted the report of the institute on Yemen, she said, making it clear that the report said that Yemen needs support to boost economic and social development and its security.
The report was fundamentally aimed at drawing the world's attention to help the country, she added.
During the conference that was organized by the Saba Center for Strategic Studies, Hill said that the upcoming meeting of Friends of Yemen Group will focus on technical assistance to Yemen as did the January 27 London Summit.
International meetings on Yemen are never aimed at putting nose in the country's internal affairs but when Yemen's own problems affect international situation then the world should take action, she said, adding that Yemen's stability is part and parcel of the world's security.
