UN OFFICIAL VISITS AL-MAZRAK IDPS CAMP

HAJJAH, April 08 (Saba)- Envoy of UN Secretary General for Internally Displaced Persons Affairs along with minister of state for parliament and Shoura council affairs Ahmed al-Kohlani paid on Thursday a visit to al- Mazrak camp for IDPs .

They inspected the humanitarian condition for the camp and services and food and health assistance presented to the IDPs by the local authorities and non government organizations in addition to UN relief agencies.

They also discussed health problems in the camp and ways of delivering assistance to the returnees to the regions.

The UN official said that the visit aims at gathering information about the condition of the IDPs to brief then doors in order to present their supports and assistance.

He pointed out to the lack for basic services in regions of IDPs in Saada, insisting on importance of finding out comprehensive strategy based on correct information and database.

He wished his visit would come with several solutions to tackle issues of IDPs.

For his part, al-Kohlani highlighted role of the local councils and relief organizations in offering assistance for the camps of the displaced people.

We wish further support of the UN to IDPs and clean regions from landmines, he said.
