President visits Islamic cultural capital Tarim

TARIM, April 11 (Saba) - President
Ali Abdullah Saleh paid a visit to the Tarim city, the Islamic Cultural Capital for
2010
in Hadramout governorate.
The President was briefed on the infrastructure projects, restorations for its
historic palaces and the arrangements made for the activities of the Islamic
Cultural Capital
for 2010 Tarim city.
Saleh visited al-Mansour palace which was built in 351 AH. The palace is now a
museum for heritage and handicrafts.
He also visited al-Sultan palace, known also as "al-Rnnand Fort".
The 2000-year old palace is located in a hill in the middle of the city near "Tarim
Mosque".
President Saleh voiced his happiness of being here in Tarim city, wich has been
selected to be the Islamic cultural capital in 2010.
He affirmed the government's care of the city's unique cultural and architectural
heritage, wishing all success for the events of the Islamic cultural capital.
