MALAYSIAN AIRLINES HELPS WOO INDIAN STUDENTS TO MALAYSIA
By P.Vijian
CHENNAI, April 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has moved a step
forward to turn Malaysia into an educational hub in the region by offering
competitive airfare to South Indian students.
To cater for the burgeoning student traffic from Tamil Nadu, for those
seeking accredited international courses in Malaysia, MAS signed a memorandum of
understanding with the Malaysian Study Centre (MSC) -- a division of AEC
Business School India.
"Surely with this joint initiative the respective students can enjoy
seamless connectivity to Malaysia at a value for money airfares, along with
additional incentives ensuring a convenient journey.
"This development is in-sync with our consumer centric approach to offer
value benefits and services of our airline," Azahar Hamid, MAS South Asia
regional manager said at the signing ceremony in Chennai.
Under the collaboration, MSC students would be entitled to about 50 percent
discounted airfare on MAS flights plus additional concessions including excess
baggage allowance for first-time students of 30 kg.
Currently MAS operates 29 weekly flights from its five operational gateways
-- Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi.
AEC India is an initiative of the Malaysia-based Melewar Group (through
Melewar Academia Holding Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur).
R. Jayapal, deputy chairman of AEC signed on behalf of the institution and
was witnessed by Anuar Kasman, Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai.
