TRIAL OF SUSPECTS OF SPYING FOR IRAN COMMENCES



SANA'A, April 12 (Saba) - A first instance court began on Monday in Sana'a a trial of four suspects of spying for Iran.

The court chaired by judge Mohsen Alwan listen to the indictment against the four suspects, who are Mu'amar Mohammed Ahmed al-Abdali, Walid Mohammed Ali Sharaf al-Din, Abdullah Ali Mutahar al-Dailami and Sadiq Abdul-Rahman al-Sharafi.

The indictment read that the four suspects have contacted with a foreign country via contacting with some people working for Iran's favor, during the period of 1994 – 25 August 2009, seeking for support and financings to carry out Iranian intellectual and political plots in Yemen.

The suspects have delivered reports on the political, social and economic conditions in Yemen in addition to information and photos for some islands, ports, marine sites, security and military faculties.

They have involved in an armed gang to execute criminal acts, including receiving financial and armed support from various parties and sending that for al-Houthi rebels in Saada province to fight against the government troops, according to the indictment.
After listening to the indictment, judge Alwan asked the prosecution to read the list of evidences.

Then, the court adjourned the trial till April 26, to enable the suspects' defense to get acquainted with the case file and the evidence's list.
