MALAYSIA OFFERS CONDOLENCES TO POLAND




KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia on Monday conveyed its
condolence to Poland over the tragic plane crash involving the country's late
President Lech Kaczynksi, his wife Maria Kaczynska and other members of his
delegation who perished during a visit to Smolensk, Western Russia on Saturday.

King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, in his condolence message
to Poland's acting President Bronistaw Komorowski, said Malaysia stood together
with the people of Poland during this unfortunate tragedy.

Prime Minister Datuk Najib Tun Razak, on behalf of the government
and people of Malaysia, extended his deepest condolences and profound sympathies
to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

In a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) Monday,
Najib described the incident as a tragic loss to the country and hoped that
their families would find solace and strength to face this irreplaceable loss.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also had conveyed words of
sympathy to Poland Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs,
Waldemar Pawlak.

Muhyiddin had signed the condolence book on behalf of the Malaysian
government at Poland's Embassy here Monday.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Anifah Aman had also sent similar
message to his counterpart, Radoslaw Sikorski.

He said that the tragedy was certainly a tremendous loss to the Republic of
Poland.

In the April 10 tragedy, President Lech Kaczynski and scores of other
senior
Polish figures including his wife perished in a plane crash in Smolensk,
Western Russia during a visit to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Katyn
massacre.
