YEMEN INVESTIGATES 12 HUMAN ORGAN TRADERS
SANA'A, April 14(Saba) - 12 suspects have been referred to the prosecution in Sana'a on charges of trading in human organs, the September website reported on Tuesday.
Chief of the Criminal Investigative Department Rezk al-Jawfi said five out of the group included main Yemeni and Jordanian suspects.
A hunt, coordinated by Interpol in Yemen and Egypt, has been launched for other accomplices including three Egyptians and three Jordanians, he added.
Investigations with the arrested revealed that the main suspect was an Egyptian medical doctor who worked in a Cairo hospital and the broker between the Yemeni victims and those who traded in their organs received between $ 20000 to 60000 a year.
A victim might sell their organ, a kidney, for $ 5000.
