JOBSEEKERS ADVISED TO KEEP ABREAST WITH DEMANDS OF JOB MARKET

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Deputy Finance MinisterChor
Chee Heung Friday advised graduates and jobseekers to keep abreast with the
demands of the job market and apply the knowledge they gained from education in
the workplace.

He said there should not be any excuse for their not keeping up with
the pace of progress and self development in this current borderless world.

Speaking at the opening of Malaysia's largest career and training fair here
Friday, he said the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical
situations was important to enrich one's experience in a job.

"Growth is part and parcel of change and challenges, so rest not on your
laurels or fall into the entrapment accorded by a myopic view of
contentment...think further, never cease learning," he added.

Chor said the government expected a growth of 4.5 per cent in GDP in the
fourth quarter of this year with a substantial amount of funds from the economic
stimulus packages used for the development of hundreds of job-creating
infrastructure projects.

A total of 180 companies including multinationals and education providers
are taking part in the three-day event at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre.

JobStreet.com and AIC Media and Events Group are jointly organising the fair
which are expected to attract some 120,000 jobseekers.
