Parliament reviews govt's report on security situation

SANA'A, April 17(Saba) - The
Parliament reviewed on Saturday the government's report on the security situation in
a
number of provinces in the country.
The government revealed in its report that the events during the first quarter of
2010 proved that the outlaw elements in Dalei province and some districts of Abyan
and
Lahj provinces have persisted in committing many sabotage acts.
The report stated that the matter evolved into the use of arms to assault policemen
and citizens and burning some shops and looting of private and public properties.
The number of demonstrations and strikes in the provinces referred to 245 cases and
the total number of bombings and shootings reached 87 cases and the cases of
banditry
and looting amounted to 124 cases, the report pointed out.
With regard to human losses, the government indicated in its report that the number
of martyrs from the soldiers was 10 martyrs and 48 injured, in addition to the
death
of 8 citizens and 72 other wounded. For material damage, the report pointed that the
sabotage acts caused damage to 6 buildings, 18 equipments and 23 other damage.
To face those sabotage acts, the government pointed out that the security bodies
have taken a number of security actions represented in imposing the state prestige
and raising
the voice of law and activating the role of security in these provinces, where a
number of wanted and subversives were arrested and brought to justice.
In this regard, the parliament authorized the head of its presidency and the
concerned authorities in the government to set practical ideas and solutions to put
an end for
such breaches of security and to strengthen the voice of law and order and the
prestige of the state.
