Yemen expects oil production to decrease by 6.6 per cent

SANA'A, April 18 (Saba) -
The government performance plan for 2010
has expected that oil production will decline by 6.6 per cent, almotamar.net
reported. Amid the prediction, the plan noted that Yemen intends to reduce the rate
of unemployment
to 15.2 per cent from 16.3 per cent. The plan prepared by the Cabinet Presidency
said the government will work to increase liquefied petroleum gas to 900000 metric
tonnes
and export 8.6 million metric tons of gas to the U.S. and S. Korean markets. There
are also plans to boost sectors such as minerals, extractive and transformative
industries
and tourism, and the government will also work to develop the additional interest of
the agricultural sector by 3 per cent and limit qat cultivation to 9 per cent of the
land planted with the tree, it said. Moreover, the plan predicted the additional
interest in the fish sector will increase by 5.2 per cent, seaports will increase to
nine
and the maritime cargo to 8.5 million tonnes. The plan relies on modified goals of
the third social and economic plan for reducing poverty 2006-2010, the second phase
of
national reforms 2009-2010 and the ten governmental priorities for the next two
years. FR
