YEMEN, WB TO ANNOUNCE THREE FISHING PORTS TENDERS OF $ 17 MLN



SANA'A, April 18 (Saba) - Yemen and World Bank (WB) reviewed here on Sunday final procedures to declare tenders of rehabilitating fishing ports of Hodeidah, Khawbah and Nashton at a cost of $17.5 million.

Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammad Shamlan held talks with WB rural development, water and environment official Naji Abu Hatem on the land and marine works that will be implemented in the ports including broadening and rehabilitating the old facilities and setting up the additional required works to run the ports.

The final cost to rehabilitate Hodeidah port is $ 8 million and $5 million for Khawbah port, while the rehabilitation works in port of Nashton in Mahrah province is $ 4.5 million. All the rehabilitation costs are funded by WB.

During the talks, the two officials dealt with the fish projects to be implemented during the second phase of fifth fish project funded by WB and the European Union, topped by constructing 15 fish berths in the coastal provinces and the necessary related facilities.

Both sides affirmed the importance of completing the restructure of the fish sector implemented by a New Zealand company and submitting the related final report in the next May to be forwarded to the Cabinet in the agreed time.
