Parliament Speaker praises cooperation with NDI
SANA'A, April 19 (Saba) - Speaker of the Parliament Yahya al-Rae'i praised on Monday the growing relations with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for International Affairs and the joint programs co-organized by the parliament and the institute.
Those programs aimed to promote the capacities and increase the training process
for the parliamentary committees' members and the parliament's staff to contribute
to develop
their skills, capabilities, knowledge and experiences in the legislative and
oversight areas.
During his meeting with the NDI's resident director in Yemen Heather Therrien ,
al-Rae'i noted the importance of promoting the cooperation aspects between the two
sides
to achieve the scientific and practical ambition in the parliamentary work.
For her part, the NDI's official expressed her proud of the support presented by
the parliament to succeed the joint training programs between the parliament and
the institute.
She presented the NDI's preconception to the parliament's speaker to develop
programs that took place during the last period.
Those programs focused on the area of strategic planning, parliamentary censorship,
critical reading of the parliamentary law drafts and the communication with media
and
subjects relating to the law drafts amendment, hearings holding, use of various
sources of legislations and the parliamentary censorship, as well as developing the
parliament's
relations with both the government and the Civil Society Organizations.
