INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENSURING SAFER HEALTH CARE
KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- About 700 representatives from the healthcare fraternity from Asia will meet here for three days from Thursday to discuss the best practice in providing safer healthcare to patients.
The conference, MSQH International Conference and Exhibition 2010, organised by
the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH), will be held at The Legend
Hotel here and is scheduled to be launched by Health Deputy Minister Rosnah
Shirlin Thursday.
"We are focusing on the outcome of safer health care to be provided to patients
and trying to educate the public by saying that you are also responsible for
your own healthcare and you must know what you are being treated for," MSQH
Chief Executive Officer Associate Professor Dr MA Kadar Marikar told Bernama.
He said patients and their family had the right and should not just accept
doctor's recommendation and they should ask and even seek for second opinion to
get the best decision.
The conference will be a platform for healthcare providers and public to update
their knowledge on best practices relating to safer and quality patient care and
at the same time to minimise medical error, he said.
