INDIA'S MAVERIC AIMS TO MAKE M'SIA SOFTWARE TESTING HOTBED

By P.Vijian

NEW DELHI, April 20 (Bernama) -- India's Maveric Systems Ltd, a software testing company, plans to ramp up its Malaysian operations and turn it into a regional testing hub.

The company, which launched its operations in Malaysia last August, will
expand its workforce to create quality software testing experts, to cater for
domestic and regional markets.

"We will have about 80 to 100 staff in Malaysia by end of 2010. We want to
create a quality workforce and position Malaysia as an important gateway to the
world in software testing," Ritendra Banerjee, Maveric's Senior Vice President
told Bernama in Delhi.

In Malaysia, the company will largely focus on the banking and Takaful
insurance sector to carry out software testing, using its past expertise from
operations in America, Europe and West Asia.

Last year, Maveric announced it would invest about US$750,000 (RM2.6
million) to focus on developing testing in the banking, insurance and government
sectors.

The Chennai-based company has also partnered with Malaysia University of
Science and Technology (MUST) to roll out training, short-term courses in
Takaful Insurance and Islamic banking.

"There is a lot of talent and interest in Malaysia and the government has
even set up the Malaysia Software Testing Board.

"Top-tier banking and insurance companies are based there. It is a hotbed
for experimentation, which can eventually provide world class testing services,"
added Banerjee.
