TAIZ, April 21 (Saba) - An official statistic has
showed that rabies kills 30 people in Yemen a year, Aljomhoria.net has reported.
The website also said that there are a million stray dogs left on the streets.
Only 1500 of them are owned by people.
The dogs injure about 5000 people killing 30 a year, according to the statistic.
Last year, 1000 cases were recorded in Ibb in central Yemen, with those aged
between 5-15 years old most vulnerable to rabies.
Globally, the UN says that about 40000-70000 people die a year of the disease, a
third of whom are children.
