ROAD ACCIDENT KILLS YEMENI FAMILY

MARIB, April 22 (Saba) - A deadly car accident has left a Yemeni family of 24 members including 15 women and 9 children dead in Mareb province in the north-east, the state-run 26sep.net reported on Thursday.

According to traffic director at the Interior Ministry Yahya Zahir, a pick-up overturned at 10:30 today in the district of Harib Al-Joubah leading to the tragedy.

Excessive speed and heavy cargo were probably behind the accident, he said.

According to official statistics, scores of people are killed in car accidents in Yemen a week, with high speed, technical defects and drivers' negligence mainly blamed.
