$ 40 mln project to broaden navigational channel in Aden harbor
ADEN, April 23
(Saba) - Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation is planning to expand and deepen the
navigation
channel in the port of Aden in next July at a cost of USD 40 million granted by the
Abu Dhabi Fund.
The project includes the expansion of the navigation channel at the port from 183
meters to 240 meters and deepening it from 15 meters to 18 meters.
The Chief Executive of the Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation Mohamed Mubarak told
Saba the tender's documents have been prepared for the consultative services for
the project.
"The project which is expected to be completed in January 2013 will enable the
port of Aden to attract giant container ships to serve the movement of transit
cargo and
will be a qualitative leap in the field of containers activity so as to achieve
greater financial returns for the port", said Mubarak.
