FM MEETS UN-CTED DELEGATION

SANA'A, April 25 (Saba) - Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi met here on Sunday with head of the delegation of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) Mike Smith, who is currently visiting Yemen.

In the meeting, al-Qirbi welcomed the delegation, which has visited 54 countries so far, stressing Yemen's cooperation with the UN and the international community in combating terrorism.

He pointed out efforts made by Yemen and the legislations issued to combat terrorism, affirming that Yemen's commitment to fight against terrorism stems from its awareness of the economic and developmental losses and damage caused by the terrorism as well as the distortion of Yemen's image abroad.

All States, including Yemen, start off from the same starting points and target the same goals pursued by the international organizations in the fight against terrorism and crime, which can not be combated only through a collective international efforts in coordination with the national efforts, al-Qirbi said.

Furthermore, he pointed out the economic cost for combating terrorism from the various political, economic, legal, and social aspects, as well as the successes achieved by Yemen in this field despite its limited resources.
