HOUTHI GROUP RELEASES ABDUCTEE AFTER TORTURE

AMRAN, April 25 (Saba) – The man the Houthi group abducted three days ago in Harf Sufyan district has been released but security authorities said the release came after he had been tortured, the September website reported on Sunday.

Hamam Daris has already arrived at a checkpoint in Al-Am area and was transported to hospital.

He was tortured and badly abused by the Houthi group that the government says is continuing violations amid the ceasefire that ended the six-year war in the far north, security sources said.

On the other hand, the UNHCR has said that the return of the war-displaced people in Saada is continuing slowly due to spread landmines and continuous security fears.

Spokesman for the UNHCR Melissa Fleming said that most of the refugees, living at camps, are still reluctant to come back amid insecurity and other problems including insufficient aid.

He added that landmines, which have claimed many lives and injured others since the ceasefire started almost two months ago, remain the major threat.

Meanwhile, the organization has warned of lack of funds for its operations in Yemen, saying it only received a third of the wanted sum of $ 40 million that was not enough to help the displaced.
