GHAZZ HOPES TO INTRODUCE FIRST SYARIAH BASED MOBILE PHONE SERVICE IN EAST COAST
PASIR PUTEH (Malaysia), April 26 (Bernama) -- The first Syariah based mobile
phone service is expected to be introduced in the East Coast by latest July this
year, with attractive packages.
Managing director of Ghazz Networks (M) Sdn Bhd, Ghazali Mohd Saat, said the
service will be operated by a company jointly established by Kuwait based Baraka
Telecom Sdn Bhd and Ghazz Networks which has its office in Kota Baharu, capital
city of east coast Kelantan state in Peninsular Malaysia.
"A total of 550 agents in Kelantan and Terengganu have been identified to
expand the service network," Ghazali told reporters here Monday.
He said 24 agents have already been given training and briefings on the
special service which is touted to offer the lowest rates compared with other
mobile phone operators.
He said the company also expected to carry out social services for the
Muslim community such as development of mosques and organising sporting
activities in line with Islamic principles.
Ghazali said pilgrims going to Mecca and Madinah would be able to also use
the service and enjoy other benefits as well.
He said the company would be applying to secure an initial loan of RM1
million (US$314,317) from a financial institution in the country.
