YEMEN, UN DISCUSS COOPERATION RELATIONS



SANA'A, April 26 (Saba) – Yemen and the United Nations discussed here on Monday the cooperation relations and priorities for the next five years within the UN's country program for Yemen.

This came during the meeting of Prime Minister Ali Mujawar met here on Monday with Amat Al-Alim Al-Soswa, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator of United Nations Development Programme and Director of its Regional Bureau for Arab States.

The two sides dealt with the UN-supported programs of development and the level of implementation of those programs, and the major economic and political challenges facing the government, as well as the developments in the political situation and the efforts aiming to develop the political system and enhance the democratic experience in Yemen.

The premier lauded the UN's vital role in serving the development in Yemen, wishing more partnership and cooperation with the UN organizations in a number of aspects, particularly the human, population, food and service aspects.

For her part, the UN official confirmed the UN Organization's attention in the qualitative development of its development efforts in supporting the government programs at both the local and central levels, pointing out that the UN's country programme for Yemen has been formulated in line with the priorities of the government's fourth five-year plan for development.

"It has been focused through the UN program on supporting the government for the development of promising sectors and in the field of basic services to the population and to empower women and strengthen the system of decentralization as well as aspects of climate change", Al-Soswa said.

She confirmed the keenness of the UN to develop its cooperation with Yemen to serve the common goals in the development field.
