PIRATES FAIL TO TAKE OVER MERCHANT SHIP OFF YEMEN

HODIEDA, April 27 (Saba) - A few days after two oil tankers escaped
separate pirate attacks off Yemen, the west-based Coastguard said on
Monday it had received an alert by international forces that pirates
tried to take over a merchant ship.

The ship was intercepted 22 km off Khokha port, Hodeida.

A naval ship of those patrolling the region on anti-piracy mission
headed to the site forcing the pirates to run away.

The ship then continued its journey towards the Swiss Canal.
