THOSE WITH RISK FACTORS URGED TO GET H1N1 VACCINATION

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry has urged those with
risk factors like asthma, diabetes, obesity, kidney, heart and lung ailment and
pregnant women to get H1N1 vaccination fast.

Director-General of Health Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said members of
the public could get the vaccination at 104 facilities nationwide.

"Majority of death linked to H1N1 virus involves those with risk factors.
They get complications easily or infected with sekunder bacteria that causes
sepsis and can lead to death," he said in a statement Sunday.

Dr Mohd Ismail said 35 influenza A (H1N1) cases were reported up to 5.30pm
Saturday making a total 13,744 cases in Malaysia.

Influenza-like Illness (ILI) patients in wards totalled 592 with 12.8
percent or 76 confirmed H1N1.

"Seven are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which five have risk factors. No
new ILI clusters were reported up to 8am Sunday. No deaths were reported Sunday
leaving the death toll at 81," he said.

Further information on H1N1 can be obtained on the ministry website
http://h1n1.moh.gov.my or telephone 03-8881 0200/0300.
