Yemen to show international tender for oil exploration
SANA'A, July 10 (Saba) - A Yemeni official said on Wednesday that his country is currently preparing to announce the fifth international tender on oil exploration in a number of blocks in theEmpty Quarter.
During his meeting in Sana'a with French Regional Economic and Commercial Counsellor Pierre Mourlevat at the French Embassy in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi Moore of lesions, deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals Abdullah Daris said that Yemen is currently seeking toincrease its oil production.
Daris and Mourlevat reviewed the bilateral relations of cooperation between Yemen and France in the fields of oil, gas and minerals andmeans of promoting and developing them.
They discussed the operational procedures of carrying out an agreement of natural gas-fired electric power generation signed between the two Ministries of Oil and Electricity and the French OilCompany Total working in the block No. 10.
Upon the agreement, Total will build a station to generate 50megawatts of electricity in Hadramout province, east of Yemen.
The two officials also discussed ways of expanding the activities of French companies working in Yemen in the field of oil explorations and surveys for serving the common interests of both countriesespecially in light of high oil prices continue in the world markets.
Daris called on French oil companies to participate in the 3rdconference of oil, gas and minerals, to be held early next year.
For his part, Mourlevat affirmed his country's keenness to promotethe French oil companies to invest in Yemen.
"Many French companies are interested and look forward to invest in Yemen. We will provide all information to those companies on investment conditions in Yemen and its promising investmentopportunities", said Mourlevat.
The French diplomat added that the oil sector in Yemen is one of the most attractive sectors for investment, especially as Yemenexploited only 20 percent of its oil wealth.
