MALAYSIANS TRUST LOCAL BRANDS, READERS` DIGEST SURVEY SHOWS
KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysians are proud of home-grown products
as shown by the 2010 Reader's Digest Trusted Brands Survey, carried out in eight
Asian markets, namely Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, India, the Philippines,
Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
In a statement Wednesday, Reader's Digest said "Made in Malaysia" brands
enjoyed
considerable favour among consumers and were named winners in 23 out of 43
categories of products and services.
Among them were Maybank and Public Bank which took top spots as most trusted
banks while Bank Islam won sole honours in the Islamic financial services
category.
To stay in touch, consumers trust Maxis as their phone service provider and
Streamyx as their internet service provider. They also prefer Malaysia Airlines
and name Genting Highlands and Langkawi as top family tourist attractions.
On the road, Proton was the brand their prefer alongside Honda and Toyota,
and will fill them up at Petronas and Shell petrol stations.
PosLaju was among the trusted airfreight/courier service providers while
Sime Darby Property was named sole winner in the highly competitive property
developer category.
Among universities, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti
Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA tied for top-of-the-class
position.
The most trusted government department/agency was the Malaysian Immigration
Department while Hospital Kuala Lumpur was named top hospital.
While the electronic products categories went to foreign brands, consumers
chose to purchase them at the Senheng electrical appliance stores more than any
other.
