OIL, GAS MARKETING MISSION TO US RAKES IN US$10.68 MLN IN BUSINESS

KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- A specialised marketing mission for oil and
gas companies to Houston, US from May 3-6, 2010 has raked in RM35 million
(US$10.68 million) (US$1=RM3.27) in potential business.

In a statement here Friday, Malaysia External Trade Development Corp
(Matrade) said 25 companies in the offshore oil and gas industry participated in
the mission.

It said 63 meetings were arranged between the Malaysian and US companies.

"The meetings strengthened business networking and discussed collaborative
and joint venture initiatives, acquisition of latest technologies, distribution
opportunities and outsourcing businesses," it said.

It said the mission has resulted in a significant expansion in the number of
business opportunities for local companies in the international offshore oil and
gas sector.

Matrade chief executive officer, Noharuddin Nordin, said the mission
was part of the efforts by the government to promote Malaysia's oil and gas
industry globally.

"The mission is timely as it continues to both intensify and diversify our
promotional efforts to one of the world's most important and competitive
markets," he said.

The mission was jointly led by Matrade, Malaysian Industrial Development
Authority and US Commercial Service in conjunction with the Offshore
Technologies Conference 2010 (OTC).

The OTC is the world's largest oil and gas conference and exhibition.
