EMPLOYERS NEED TO LOOK AFTER WELFARE OF LOCAL WORKERS - M'SIAN PM NAJIB

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak
Saturday reminded employers on the importance of ensuring justice to local
workers by giving them reasonable pay.

He said the employers should find ways to raise the productivity of local
workers instead of taking the easy way out by bringing in foreign workers at the
expense of the local workers.

"This is not fair. Don't blame the government if we do not approve
applications to bring in more foreign workers.

"We want to see how the local workers can be given priority in their
(employers') consideration," he said.

Najib said this when launching the Workers' Day 2010 celebration organised
by the Ministry of Human Resources at the Mines Resort City, Seri Kembangan,
near here.
