INDONESIAN WHO MURDERED FIVE WEDDING GUESTS HAS DATE WITH HANGMAN

SIBU (Malaysia), May 8 (Bernama) -– The High Court here Friday ordered an
Indonesian to be sent to the gallows for the murder of five wedding guests at a
longhouse in Song District, three years ago.

Judicial Commissioner Ravinthran Paramagur also meted out an additional 22
years' jail to Nyambang Entuhan for causing hurt to nine wedding guests, and
illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Nyambang, 39, who was married to the daughter of the longhouse chief, was
calm
when judgement was delivered.

He was found guity on five counts of murder at the longhouse Rumah Enchan,
Sungai Engkabau, Song District at the ruai (a space between five-foot way) and
bilik (room between ruai and kitchen) on June 6, 2007.

The five wedding guests who were killed were Gram George, Meluda Imin,
Jimbun
Ngindang, Paulus Ilu and Galau Ilu.

Nyambang was jailed for 18 years when he was found guilty of causing
grievous
hurt to nine other wedding guests, and sentenced to another four years jail for
possession of firearm and ammunition.

When delivering judgement, Paramagur said a prima facie case was made out
against the accused, whose sentences were ordered to start from the date of his
arrest on June 7, 2007.

On June 6, 2007, Nyambang attended a wedding reception at Rumah Enchan. The
Tuai Rumah (headman) of the longhouse, Lucas Baru, was given the honour to
deliver a speech.

Among others, he had said that he discouraged his people from marrying
Indonesians as they did not have identity cards.

Upon hearing this, Nyambang, who was seated at the ruai, looked angry and
walked away to his own ruai before disappearing.

Later, the revellers, who were eating and drinking in the ruai, were stunned
to see Nyambang, who was armed with a gun, firing in their direction.

Five of the guests succumbed to gunshot wounds while nine people were
injured.

The injured were sent to the Song Clinic before they were referred to the
Kapit Hospital.

Nyambang was represented by Rosli Dapor while Robert Pasang Alam prosecuted.
The prosecution witnesses totalled 27.
