President attends YWU ceremony on 20th anniversary of unification day

SANA'A, May 09(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended on Sunday a ceremony organized by Yemen Women
Union (YWU)on 20th anniversary of the Unification Day.
In the ceremony, president Saleh delivered a speech in which he
congratulated the Yemeni women for all achievement taken place in the
nation since 22nd May of 1990 in different
political, social and development fields.
He also pointed out to the big difference in situation of the woman
before and after the unification as now the woman becomes a key partner
in all sectors of the political,
social and cultural life.
President Saleh also indicated to the concern of the state for woman in
education and health as well as in political life as she is now voter
and candidate as well.
He affirmed importance of allocating 15 percent of the parliamentary
seats within an agreement which all all political forces should approve
it.
He also said that woman should be involved more in public life.
The president also added that there are two female ministers in the
ongoing cabinet, saying that the Islam encourages woman to be partner of
man in the life.
He also pointed out to the main role of woman in education especially
for her kids, calling on woman for good education as that helps in
building the society well.
President Saleh expressed thanks for the union as one of active civil
society organizations.
He also highlighted contributions of the woman to the security and
stability of the nation, calling on the union to cooperate with the
ministry of social affairs and labor
to contact a study on the condition of woman.
He also called on international organizations to offer all support for
the Yemeni woman through the union and other revenant bodies to improve
living standard of the poor
women.
