EU affirms supporting Yemen`s accession to GATT
SANA'A, May 11 (Saba) - European
Union (EU) affirmed on Monday supporting Yemen's accession to the General Agreement
on Tariffs
and Trade (GATT).
The EU ambassador to Yemen Michele Cervone D'urso made the statement during his
meeting with the Prime Minister Ali Mujawar.
D'urso asserted the commitment of EU to support development process in Yemen as
well, highlighting the procedures and policies Yemen has exerted to encounter the
economic
challenges and to enhance decentralization.
Mujawar touched on the advanced Yemeni-EU relations in all fields, particularly in
propping up the development projects in Yemen.
Valuing the EU support to the accession of Yemen to the World Trade Organization
(WTO), the Premier pinned hopes of the government for more EU support in this
regard, as
the EU is the concerned body to support Yemen to realize the goal in the current
year via Yemen's friends Group.
During the meeting, Mujawar and D'urso focused on the development programs support
by EU through the Social Fund for Development (SFD) or the EU aid addressed the
improving
the fishery sector to ensure the security food and the national income.
The two officials also dealt with the agenda of the national economic, political
and administrative reforms.
