MALAYSIAN COMPANIES PERFORM WELL DESPITE TOUGH YEAR




KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- Many Malaysian companies performed
remarkably well last year despite the global economic recession, Frost &
Sullivan Asia Pacific Managing Director and Partner Manoj Menon said Wednesday
night.

He said the integration of technologies offered companies opportunities to
participate in the development of smart cities and new lifestyle-based services.

"This will be the key engine of growth for companies in the next decade,"
Menon said during the presentation of the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia
Excellence Awards here Wednesday.

The awards recognise exemplary corporations within the automotive,
logistics, industrial technologies, energy and power systems, environmental and
building technologies and, healthcare sectors in Malaysia.

Proton Holdings Bhd received the Best Automotive Debut Model of the Year
award for Proton Exora and the Best Passenger Model of the year award for Proton
Saga.

Perodua's Viva model clinched the award for the Best Passenger Car Value of
the Year for the third consecutive year while Ingress Corporation Bhd was
presented the Automotive Component Manufacturer of the Year.

A total of 11 leading organisations, including well-known home-grown players
and multinational corporations, were also honoured today.

Public Bank was presented the 2010 Automotive Finance Company of the Year,
Stemlife Bhd clinched the 2010 Growth Leadership Award for Stem Cell Banking and
Therapeutics while Prince Court Medical Centre was awarded the 2010 Healthcare
Services Provider of the Year.

In the Logistics Category, PosLaju was awarded the 2010 Best Express Service
Provider of the Year and Sime Darby Property Bhd won the 2010 Green Builder of
the year award.

In Industrial Technologies, Smart Surface Sdn Bhd was awarded the 2010
Technology Innovation Award for Emerging Human Computer Interface Technologies
and Novaviro Technology Sdn Bhd clinced the 2010 Technology Innovation Award for
Methane Extraction in Biogas Systems.
